Truth be told, Bhutan and Bhutan travel was always a part of me and my background. Before coming to the United States in 1984, I owned and operated my own travel company in Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal. We specialized in adventure travel, trekking and cultural programs into these Himalayan regions catering to enthusiasts from North America, Europe and Australia. The company that I was associated with in Darjeeling & Sikkim was, in fact, the first agency to send western tourists into the Kingdom of Bhutan. The company was also very instrumental in helping Bhutan set up a trekking department. I personally led the first team ever into the kingdom for river rafting. My team and crew were the first people to reconnaissance several rivers in the kingdom with a feasibility study of running commercial river trips inside Bhutan. We were also very instrumental in coordinating the first ever expedition of the American Himalayan Kayak Descent into Bhutan in 1981. With so many years’ association with the kingdom, needless to say, I have many good and close friends in the kingdom who I can count on. Bhutan and I go back over 30 years.

Since coming to the United States I have been involved in running very specialized programmes to different parts of Asia, Africa and South America. But nevertheless, my heart and soul has always remained in the Himalayas. As such, I am very pleased (and elated) to involve myself back where my heart is – Bhutan and the Himalayas.
